Sharing in the Drive to Rebuild Haiti’s Future Haiti's Future Image
Haiti is the poorest country in the Western hemisphere, with 80 percent of the population living in abject poverty. The unemployment rate is over 60 percent, the literacy rate is just above 50 percent, and the education system is one of the poorest performing in the world. To make conditions worse, on January 12, 2010, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck the capital of Port-au-Prince. This quake killed an estimated 230,000 people, injured 300,000 more, and displaced over one million more Haitian citizens. Since this terrifying day, Haitians have been struggling to rebuild their lives.

Building Haiti works to provide the capital needed to build modular schoolhouses in Haiti, as well as to provide the necessary materials for a functional school. Its goal is to build schoolhouses with fourteen rooms each, with two pre-school classes and classes that range from first grade to twelfth.

Agronyx shares Building Haiti's vision for the country and highlights this worthy cause as part of our efforts to drive reconstruction in Haiti. Particularly, we salute Building Haiti's young and inspired founder, Ms. Ania Turnier, for her leadership and interest in making her native Haiti a better place for future generations.
